I have been reading and listening to accounts of Republicans celebrating the House vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act. As reported by various news agencies, after the vote, the House Republicans gathered for a party with the theme song from Rocky blaring over loudspeakers. A large picture of Gen. George Patton was projected onto the wall. The loudspeakers also blasted out the tunes Eye of the Tiger and Taking Care of Business. Later, Trump held what was called a Frat House party at the Rose Garden.

Our Republican representatives shamelessly celebrated like college freshman a vote that will in all estimations lead to tens of millions of uninsured poor Americans and $800 billion in cuts to Medicaid coverage for the poor.

This behavior is disgusting and without decency. It is also alarming. It could not more clearly demonstrate that the Republican Congress lacks any empathy and compassion towards the poor in this nation.
