    brotherJonathan,

    I don't need to ask the First Presidency. We believe in personal revelation, so I pray about any questions about what's true and what I'm to do about it. If I can't be sure of the integrity of the answer, I rely on my bishop. While he is imperfect, God won't suffer him to lead me away. Meaning, that his answer will be consecrated for my needs. If I follow his council I'll find my way to the right place. If the bishop is living unrighteous and in error, then he'll be removed from his place and I'll still be guided to where I need to go.

    Why? Because God in fact does answer prayers.

    It's "Knock and it shall be opened" not "Knock and it shall be opened if you're lucky enough to have the right answer from the right bishop". God is fair and doesn't do that to us. As long as we are humble and will follow whatever answer God gives us, he'll guide us to the answer we need as we study and search for answers.

    Point is, I have prayer- a phone that has only one person who answers it, then I have my bishop, stake president, then general conference. Those have all been sufficient and helpful, the words of others rarely have.

    What a wonderful conference session. These wonderful sisters and President Eyring were inspired. We love you all.

    @Brother Jonathan

    I cannot tell you how much you sound like Elder George P. Lee in his darkened days.
